PAOLA VIRGINIA SUÁREZ ÁVILA

PAOLA VIRGINIA SUÁREZ ÁVILA is a full-time researcher at the Center for Research on North America, CISAN, UNAM. She is also a professor at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of UNAM (FFyL) of UNAM and national researcher for the National Council of Research and Science (CONACyT), level 1.

She was a postdoctoral fellow at Center for Latino Policy Research at University of California, Berkeley, and she was fellow at the Summer Workshop of the Institute for Global Law and Policy of Harvard Law School and also at the BIARI Mexico Workshop “Migration of the Americas” by Brown University and El Colegio de México. In her research, she focuses on the effects of the convergence of local government law and migration policies in the US and Mexico, educational public policy in the context of knowledge economy, and cultural studies of US-Mexico border.

She is currently developing a research project on “Vulnerability of undocumented minors and policies of integration in the Contemporary US and Mexico”
